Umeå-based Lipigon Pharmaceuticals has signed a new deal and taken over the patent portfolio for a number of drug candidates that could help treat cardiovascular diseases. “The market in treatments for various blood fat disorders amounts to several billion dollars. This is a very important opportunity for us,” says Stefan K Nilsson, CEO of Lipigon.

Nu förstärker Umeå Biotech Incubator sitt team med en ny affärscoach och en ny community manager. De nya medarbetarna heter Andreas Lindberg och Christin Grundström. – Trycket är högt. Umeå Biotech Incubator (UBI) is strengthening its team once again with the appointments of a new Business Coach and Community Manager. “The pressure is on! Right now we have a lot of ideas developing at our incubator and several of our companies are looking to take the next step. Det kinesiska investmentbolaget Ivy Capital investerar nu närmare 30 miljoner kronor i Umeåbaserade Betagenon. – Den här investeringen är väldigt viktig för oss och utvecklingen av vår produkt. Vi hoppas få fram ett läkemedel mot stora folksjukdomar, säger Thomas Edlund, medgrundare och vd på Betagenon.
Chinese investment firm Ivy Capital is investing almost 3 million USD into Umeå-based biotechnology firm Betagenon. “This investment is incredibly important to us and the development of our product. We hope to produce a cure for widespread diseases,” says Thomas Edlund, Co-Founder and CEO of Betagenon.
Umeå Biotech Incubator (UBI) is hosting two events in Stockholm later this week. Both the Meet Umeå Life Science and the Biotech Umeå Investment Day are expected to attract record numbers of participants. “This year a record number of participants have registered for the events, which feels amazing,“ says Jennie Ekbeck, CEO of Umeå Biotech Incubator.
