Umeå Biotech Incubator opens new office space in Umeå
Now Umeå Biotech Incubator is creating new business areas on Tvistevägen near Umeå University.
”It will be a new and modern co-working space for Umeå's startups – where the companies can grow and collaborate,” says Jennie Ekbeck, CEO of Umeå Biotech Incubator.
The new co-working area is located on the fifth floor on Tvistevägen 48. The new office space has almost 15 rooms and common areas with printers, coffee machines and nice furniture. So far, nine of the rooms have been rented out.
”We are creating this office space as a bridge for the companies that leave our incubator and cannot yet stand on their own. There they can share the co-working area with other companies in the same phase, which provides opportunities for exchange of experience and collaboration,” says Jennie Ekbeck.
The premises is not only for Umeå Biotech's Incubator companies but is free to rent for all startups in Umeå.
”We hope that the companies can share staff, buy services from each other and give each other tips and advice. Part of our mission is to create meeting places – and this is part of that work, says Jennie Ekbeck.
At present, the premises are being renovated by Balticgruppen, who owns the building, and during February everything will be ready for the tenants to move in. The assignment to design the premises has gone to Senab.
”We look forward to inaugurating Umeå's newest and most modern co-working space in February. We hope that our tenants will enjoy a creative environment that will help them grow. Umeå is a great city for startups and we are convinced that this area is needed,” says Jennie Ekbeck.
The companies that so far have signed up for the new office space are Inficure Bio, Hiloprobe, Predictera, Memotus and Lipum.
