Umeå Biotech Incubator best in Sweden – advances to the Nordic final

Umeå Biotech Incubator has been named the best in Sweden in the category Best Accelerator Program or Incubator Program – and thus goes on to the Nordic final in the prestigious Nordic Startup Awards.

"Now we keep our fingers crossed that as many people as possible votes for us. We aim to win the finals – and to move on to the global finals in China", says Jennie Ekbeck, CEO of Umeå Biotech Incubator.

The Nordic Startup Awards is a regional competition and a part of the Global Startup Awards, which was founded in Denmark in 2012. The competition wants to celebrate and merge the ecosystem for startups worldwide and to praise those who have shown outstanding achievements in business and service to the startup community .

After a jury work and a web-based poll, Umeå Biotech Incubator has been named Swedish winner in the category Best Accelerator Program or Incubator Program. It gives the life science incubator a place in the Nordic final – Nordic Startup Awards.

"Now we can measure ourselves against really good incubators in our Scandinavian neighboring countries. The Danish life science incubator Accelerace has won several years in a row – and it would be great if we could give them a tough match", says Jennie Ekbeck.

Now a new jury work and a new poll awaits before the Nordic Startup Awards are held in December in Denmark.

"We are now one step closer to the global final. Imagine if we could stand as the winner on stage in China after the vote in the Global Startup Awards. Competition is tough – but we are brave and do never stop dreaming", says Jennie Ekbeck, who has been CEO of Umeå Biotech Incubator since 2012.

She continues:

"Incubator activities are very important. We and our colleagues capture ideas from universities and support them to develop innovations and take a given place as an employer. It creates both jobs and better health thanks to the new medicines and medical technology solutions that come out of our operations. We are grateful to be part of our industry.

Umeå Biotech Incubator is ranked as one of Europe's best life science incubators, has recently been named Scandinavia's best biotech incubator at the International Life Science Awards 2019 and is rated Excellent by Vinnova.
