Umeå Biotech Incubators CEO gives a lecture for Norway's research elite

On Thursday, September 5, Umeå Biotech Incubators CEO Jennie Ekbeck gives a lecture to Norway's joint research elite in Tromsø, Norway.

– They want inspiration on how to effectively support researchers so that more research is utilized – and can be developed into future innovations that benefit humanity, says Jennie Ekbeck.

The Center for Digital Life Norway is hosting the Digital Life 2019 event in Tromsø on September 5–6. On site is Norway's research elite in areas such as life science and digital health.

– In Norway, they want to build a system that supports researchers in the commercialization of their ideas so that the innovations can be used to make life better for the population. They think we work well with this and that is why they want me as a keynote speaker, says Jennie Ekbeck.

The welcome speech is held by the Norwegian Minister of Digitization Nikolai Astrup and the other speakers are heavy names in the research world.

– I'm glad to be a part of this competent group. It is very gratifying that they pay attention to Umeå Biotech Incubator's work and want to be inspired by it. We have a pay it forward culture and are happy to pass on our knowledge and experience to others. Research and commercialization can go hand in hand if you only take into account the challenges and needs of each part. For me, it is important that research benefits people and not just stays as knowledge. We need to uphold more applicable research from the universities, says Jennie Ekbeck.

She will also participate in a panel debate on digitization, primarily in medicine and health.

– It's a very interesting subject. Digitalization has great potential, but it is important to take into account patient safety and regulations when developing these solutions, says Jennie Ekbeck.

The organizer Center for Digital Life Norway is a national centre for biotechnology training, research and innovation, advancing digital biotechnology.
